UPIFC EXPANSION POLICIES
Each fraternity wishing to join the UPIFC must inform the Council and Council Advisor of their intentions.
Pursuant to NIC Standard Operating Procedures, upon expressing interest to establish a chapter, the interested organization may be asked to send relevant information to the General Assembly for discussion. Upon review and discussion by the voting body of UPIFC, the respective organization(s) will be assigned a time by the UPIFC for the expansion to occur. The UPIFC will work collaboratively with the organization to determine the best academic term for the expansion within a four-year period from when the UPIFC was first notified of the interested fraternity’s intentions.
Acceptance Into UPIFC
When a fraternity joins/rejoins UPIFC, their acceptance is considered probationary for a period of one year. Any violations brought before the UPIFC Judicial Board during that time will be considered a second offense.
Full membership in the UPIFC is limited to those fraternity chapters aligned with NIC Standards, are affiliated with an inter/national organization, and are men’s fraternities. Associate membership may be granted to organizations that do not meet the above criteria. Only members from full UPIFC member organizations are permitted to serve as UPIFC officers.
If a fraternity interest group requests UPIFC recognition, the UPIFC will partner with the interest fraternity to develop a mutually agreeable timeline and metrics to obtain full membership in the Council.
The UPIFC will honor all return agreements negotiated as part of a UPIFC conduct process. Any Chapter that has been expelled from the UPIFC will be given a chance to return no later than five years from the expulsion.

Be sure to include any history of the organization’s status with the local university, if there is an interest group already established, and preferred joining term.
